On 3rd June 19 members visited Saxby Church to hear a presentation by Rev Plumb on the history of the church. The church is architecturally significant, being a rare example of an early rural church designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott. It has several beautiful stained glass windows which Rev Plumb described in detail. One of them is a simple Madonna and Child against a trellis background with pink roses and dates from 1873. It is the earliest Kempe glass in the county of Lincolnshire.
Mavis thanked Rev Plumb and Mrs Fagge and her team for welcoming us to the church and providing a lovely buffet supper.
Margaret Smith gave a brief report on her visit the previous day to the WI Centenary Garden Party at Buckingham Palace.
