Alex Hallowes presented her life history pictorially and talked about how she began life in Zimbabwe and events that brought her to where she is now.
Alex had a career in community theatre before getting her degree in silversmithing from Camberwell College. She is a certified teacher of PMC and Artclay. Alex has been making jewellery since she graduated in 1997 and started teaching metalwork at a local college. She also became an arts consultant for a local regeneration project and has worked with schoolchildren on many different projects. She has taken part in dramatic art, speech and drama, public art and children's art in schools.
She also works with her husband who was a marine engineer. They work freelance, separately and together, on an eclectic variety of projects, including personal work, public art projects, community projects, school sculpture projects, creative learning projects in schools and commissions.
They run weekend metal workshops too at their home on the banks of the River Humber at New Holland.
A display of her jewellery was available for members to see and buy if they wished.
