Mrs Krystyna Newman gave a very light hearted talk on her life as the mother of 8 boys. She introduced the eight boys by displaying their photographs taken when they were approximately 18 months old, this was something of a family tradition. The boys were born between 1982 and 1997. Both Krystyna and her husband, a G.P., were from big families, she being one of four girls and her husband from a family with two boys and two girls.
Krystyna talked us through the house moves, larger cars etc as the family grew. They eventually moved into a large farmhouse with plenty of land for the children to play in. Basically everything needed to be large. She talked of the struggle with a double width pushchair, getting through doors etc on shopping trips and how she ended up taxi-ing the children and friends to various sporting events. Birthday parties were held at home and holidays were taken with extended families.
She ended her talk by showing up to date photographs of the boys, most of whom had been to University. Only one of the boys is married but as yet there are no grandchildren. Although now they have all left home (the youngest has just started at University) to Mum they are still her 'boys'.
