Centenary Baton
The Women's Institute's centenary baton was passed to the organisation's Humberside Federation in a ceremony at The Ropewalk in Barton-Upon-Humber on 21st May 2014. The baton is travelling around the country to mark 100 years of the WI.
It was brought across the River Humber by members of the East Yorkshire federation in a Humber Rescue Lifeboat before being taken to the ceremony in a fire engine.
The Chairman of the East Yorkshire Federation presented the baton to Humberside Federation chairman, Sue Hawney.
On Monday 26th May, 7 members of Worlaby WI walked to Bonby Village Hall to hand the baton over to Mavis Reade, president of Bonby WI. They enjoyed a drink and refreshments before walking back to Worlaby.
On Tuesday 27th May 2014, The Federation chairman, Sue Hawney, came to Bonby Village Hall and collected the baton. She will take it to Waltham this evening to continue on its journey.
